There are a variety of barriers to active participation in sport activities among non- English (or English as a second language) speaking community groups. These include a social exclusion, linguistic barriers, health and mobility problems. <BR>The Fishing Project was focused on inclusion of ethnic groups into sports. According to the national survey 1999/2000, which was carried out by the Office of National Statistics (ONS) on behalf of Sport England, all minority ethnic groups have a very low uptake (less than one percent) of this particular sport. <P> The Amber Initiatives Sport Programme realises its vision through organising different sport or recreation activities for such community groups. We are providing multi-lingual information for the participants. The Amber Initiatives Sport Programme offers access to outdoor sport opportunities open to the host community to multinational minority groups. <P>The representatives of different community groups are heavily involved in planning and delivering of the project. 35 individuals took part in the sea-fishing trips. The project has been extremely popular. <P> The Project s success was measured by feedback to key questions regarding greater knowledge confidence and participation. The positive nature of this feedback indicates success when set against all of the Fishing Projects aims and objectives. <BR>However, the greatest point of success was not fully anticipated by the aims and objectives.
